About Us

The Australasian Forum for International Arbitration (AFIA) provides young practitioners with a forum to discuss issues and developments in international arbitration, with particular focus on the Asia-Pacific region.

Since its inauguration in 2004, AFIA has held regular symposia in the Australasian region, where attendees participate in informal discussions and can ask questions and share knowledge based on their international arbitration experience. Each of the discussions are led by a more experienced three-member panel and are based on topics suggested by members and circulated to attendees prior to the symposium. The topics range from current legal developments both in the region and further abroad, to practical hints on the conduct of international arbitration. We welcome attendees from all professional backgrounds, irrespective of their level of expertise or experience in the area of international arbitration.

AFIA provides an important opportunity for the forging of professional relationships amongst young practitioners spanning the Australasian region and globally. It also offers opportunities for its members to benefit from AFIA's developing associations with similar organisations around the world.
